As I stepped into the classroom, I was warmly welcomed by Jeffrey’s bright smile. I quickly gathered my props—mat, blocks, and straps—and chose a spot near the front, eager to immerse myself in the session. The class commenced with a soothing breathwork exercise known as Pranayama, gently guiding us to transition our energy from the bustling outside world into the tranquil healing space of Torus. Jeffrey led us through a variety of yoga poses, or asanas, each movement flowing seamlessly into the next. These asanas created a dynamic routine that, through repetition, allowed us to refine our form and deepen our practice.
Awakening
One particular breathwork exercise that resonated deeply with me was Bhramari Pranayama, also referred to as bumblebee breath. Despite having attended countless yoga classes at various levels, I had never encountered this unique practice before. As I covered my senses with my hands, I began to hum, creating a gentle vibration within. We repeated this six times, and at first, it felt strange to block out my senses.
However, with each repetition, I gradually tuned out my surroundings and focused entirely on my breath. This simple yet profound journey brought me overwhelming peace, allowing me to reconnect with my body and breath in a way I had never experienced before.
