What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is for you to work one-on-one in a safe, caring, and confidential environment—to explore your feelings, beliefs, or behaviors. Psychotherapy, provided individually, allows space to work through challenging or influential memories, identify parts of your life that you would like to change, better understand yourself and others, set goals, and work toward change. We work with both teens and adults to help you through what you feel is stopping you from moving forward or feeling stuck. Torus offers both in-person and virtual sessions.
Is Psychotherapy right for you?
Do you struggle with depression or anxiety? Have thoughts of being inadequate that just won’t leave? Do you struggle with perfectionism or procrastination? Or find it difficult to manage your emotions or reactions to things? Do you have trouble with self-confidence? Feel hopeless or that there is no meaning to life or have difficulty experiencing pleasure? Do you experience shame or self-blame? Do you struggle with old memories that keep replaying old messages? Engage in relationships that are toxic and hurtful but find it difficult to leave? If you answered yes to any of these questions, individual therapy may be for you.
Therapy Process & What to Expect
Therapy is a collaborative relationship that consists of both you and the therapist working together to create a plan and enact change. It consists of openness and the ability to listen to your worries, fears, and troublesome times. An unbiased person who can truly listen and help dissect different parts of yourself, in a caring, nurturing environment.
We advocate for you, and may challenge you in different ways to look at certain behavior to help identify how something may or may not be working for you. The relationship is always evolving, and the therapist and you should be able to create trust so that each can discuss feelings with each other about the process. Our team is open to feedback on how we are helping or not helping you, and we are also open to change.
