Interns are a Vital Part: Teaching at Torus

At Torus, teaching is one of our core values—both within and outside our community. As we continue to grow and adapt, one thing remains constant: we see the unique light that each person brings into our space. Everyone who steps through our doors, regardless of role, adds more light to the world, and in turn, we add light to each other. It is a beautiful cycle of learning, understanding, and sharing.

I was reminded during my last supervision session with one of our interns. I realized I have now had the privilege of mentoring eight interns since Torus began. That realization took my breath away for a moment because it means I have been a part of the journeys of eight therapists, each of whom will carry the knowledge and light they have gained to countless others. It is a truly humbling and fulfilling experience. Interns are a vital part of Torus.

We give them hands-on experience in heart-centered, trauma-informed practices, helping them understand how trauma affects us physically, mentally, and emotionally. We encourage them to tap into their spiritual gifts and support them as they learn to hold space for others.

For anyone looking for therapy and facing financial barriers, our interns provide an accessible way to begin your healing journey. Each of our interns is carefully guided and prepared before seeing clients, and their work is closely supervised. In essence, when you work with an intern, you are also working with and supported by me. Every therapist, myself included, brings their own story into this work. Interns are no different. They are learning skills to hold space and help others through their struggles. And each one of them has a unique way of helping you navigate your journey. Together, we light the way.
