The Experience of an Individual Yoga Session

New Beginnings

I didn’t know what to expect when I walked into my first individual yoga session. That day, I felt a mix of emotions and life stresses, but as soon as I entered the Torus Center and met Tricia, a sense of ease washed over me. Tricia greeted me warmly, and I quickly found a calming peace at the start of our session. We began by sharing a bit about ourselves, and Tricia asked about my various stressors and where I felt tension in my body.

I expressed that I often felt tension in my upper body, especially when I scrunched my shoulders under stress. As I lay on my back practicing pranayama (breathwork) in savasana (laying down), Tricia asked me where I didn’t feel my breath, and I replied that I didn’t feel it in my lower spine. Tailoring the session to my needs, she focused on my upper back and spine. With each breath and pose, I felt the tension melt away, and a deep focus emerged.

One of the most challenging poses for me was a downward dog against the wall using ropes. Although I utilized downward dog pose many times before, this time felt transformative. In that position, Tricia encouraged me to reach out as far as I could, truly feel the stretch, and release control. I realized that letting go is a powerful yet difficult journey for us all. Let us help you take that first step.

Yoga is Healing

Here at Torus we guide our clients letting go of the parts of life holding them back through a variety of services one of them being Yoga. We want clients to be able to heal on the couch but also on the mat. At Torus we offer group yoga classes and individual yoga sessions. There are opportunities for all levels and the first individual session is at no cost to the client.

One might ask, why Yoga? What is yoga really going to change for me? Yoga has many physical benefits, improves emotional well being, can help one build community, and has been practiced for over 5,000 years. Most importantly, it can channel out negative energy, and bring back focus to one self or their higher power. Yoga and therapy often complement each other in fostering physical, emotional, and mental well-being

Yoga provides a holistic approach that emphasizes mindfulness and body awareness, while therapy offers a space for exploring thoughts and emotions. Together, they can enhance self-discovery, reduce stress, and promote healing, creating a powerful synergy for personal growth and transformation.

Integrating yoga into therapeutic practices can help individuals develop coping strategies and deepen their connection to themselves and their community. Come see how yoga and therapy can be a part of your healing journey at Torus Today. Click here to learn more about yoga at Torus or reach out to us at info@torus-center.com.
